Convert A Photo To ASCII Art
By Eric Richards | October 8, 2007
Remember the days when ASCII art was all the rage? Well, most of you probably don’t but thats OK. Here’s something that will bring back memories for us older folks and it’s from Photo2Text.com. Using their online application you can create your own ASCII art based on a photo you upload. Here’s something I created.

Once you upload your image,
create a unique name for it. Once this is done you have two options to modify the image:
- Brightness Adjustments
- Character Set
Please note, black and white photos seem to work the best and the file size has to be less than 200k.
After making any changes, you can then proceed to download the image. Remember, this is ASCII art so the file that will be generated is a text file.
Here’s a bonus for you Firefox users out there. There’s a Firefox extension called Photo to text Converter which integrates this functionality into the browser. Enjoy!
